Spike
Gjerde
has
returned
to
the
kitchen.
Well,
sort
of.
One
of
my
favorite
restaurants
in
Baltimore
is
Sotto
Sopra,
which
is
celebrating
its
tenth
anniversary
this
month,
and
I am
proud
to
say
I
have
been
a
regular
customer
from
the
beginning.
This
past
Monday,
April
24,
a
very
favorable
review
of
Sotto
Sopra
appeared
in
the
Baltimore
Examiner.
You’re
probably
wondering
what
this
has
to
do
with
Spike.
Well,
it
seems
there
were
two
errors
in
the
Examiner
article.
First
off,
the
owner’s
name
was
misspelled:
it’s
Riccardo
Bosio.
Second,
and
more
relevant,
the
article
failed
to
mention
that
Spike
Gjerde
has
been
hired
as a
consultant
chef
for
Sotto
Sopra.
Riccardo
Bosio’s
excitement
over
his
collaboration
with
Spike
is
obvious.
“I
love
his
cooking
and
creativity,"
Riccardo
said.
"I
would
like
Sotto
Sopra
to
become
a
hub
for
great
cooking,
not
necessarily
strictly
Italian.”
Spike’s
first
menu
is
for
Sotto
Sopra’s
opera
night
on
May
21.

and
Riccardo
well
on
their
new
partnership.
We
are
planning
to
have
Spike
prepare
a
special
summer
menu
for
us
at
Sotto
Sopra
in
July.
Spike
is
also
assisting
the
chef
at
another
restaurant
opening
in
the
area
and
is
scouting
locations
for
a
venue
of
his
own.
